I visited 10 doctors in the UK and Australia over 6 years. I had extensive testing but none of them knew what was wrong. I was told to “go home and take paracetamol” and “get more exercise” – I could barely walk! – I was finally correctly diagnosed with late-stage chronic Lyme Disease in Darwin, Australia by a Lyme-aware doctor in 2012.
I don’t remember being bitten by a tick but I have worked and travelled in Lyme risk areas. Test results from the Australian Biologics lab came back positive for Lyme bacteria in my blood, serum & urine.
I did 3 months research into successful Lyme treatments. I used the expertise of health professionals & Lyme experts from the USA, Europe & Australia and brought together our combined knowledge into a 100% natural chronic-Lyme treatment plan.
I took a different approach to some conventional Lyme disease treatments.
I based my treatment plan on a simplified version of Dr Klinghardt’s protocol, under the guidance of a Naturopath, combined with expertise from other Lyme Literate MDs, local Naturopaths, health practitioners & my own extensive research.
I didn’t take any pharmaceutical antibiotics but used powerful plant based antimicrobials instead. I reduced the toxic load, removed pathogens, viruses and bacteria and kicked my immune system back into action so my body could deal with the Lyme itself!
My treatment plan had 4 main phases:
- Tackling Lyme & Coinfections
- Body Rebalance & Healing
Covering 7 steps:
- Reducing stressors & toxins
- Boosting health & energy
- Removing parasites, pathogens, heavy metals & viruses
- Gut healing
- Antimicrobial foods & products
- Immune system support
- Whole body healing
It was trial and error to start with… but I stuck to my plan and was feeling better in 4 weeks than I had done in 4 years! Some laters stages were tough but I found a way to balance the treatment to reduce herx reactions so I could be comfortable.
After 12 months I felt great and after 15 months I was ready to get back out into the world! …But I was broke….
I wasn’t going to let that stop me so I tested my health by crewing on a yacht for 3 months, driving across the Nullabor in a $1 relocation campervan with travel buddies I met on Gumtree and flying to Bali for my recovery goal – a week long cleanse & reboot – in return for writing an article about my experience.
Recently I sold all my possessions, gave up my house, packed my car and drove 6500 kms south with my dog Radar. I funded my travelling by writing magazine articles on locations I passed through, and worked for accommodation. I did multiple house sitting jobs and started riding & skiing again thanks to generous new friends.
Three years after being diagnosed with Lyme Disease I feel amazing and I’m so much healthier than I ever was before the Lyme!
I regularly talk to Lyme patients who contact me but this is getting a little overwhelming. So before I start full-time work again I am reaching out to other struggling Lyme patients by writing an eBook on my successful recovery to encourage and inspire people that there is hope.
My Lyme Recovery Story eBook will contain:
– A guide to Lyme disease
– Information for family, friends & healthcare profs who may not understand Lyme
– Lyme awareness poster
– My coping strategies
– My complete 7 stage treatment plan: products, supplements, doses & therapies
– My weekly shopping list
– My Lyme diet meal plan
– My exercise plan
– How to get more support from your workplace, family & friends
– Alternative work & income ideas
– Contacts, practitioners and links to information, help & support
I want to provide the book I wish I’d had when I was diagnosed.
The information is the result of 6 years of dealing with undiagnosed Lyme, 3 years of research into healing late-stage Lyme, many talks with Lyme aware professionals and recovered patients – and my entire personal healing experience – which worked amazingly for me.
My book is currently in the final design stages and I will launch it as soon as I can!
Regular updates on my eBook and adventures will be posted on this site.
